ChatGPT connects to Popcorn as a remote connector. You copy one URL from Popcorn into ChatGPT, approve access once in your browser, and from then on you can ask ChatGPT to work in your workspace.

Before you start

  • A Popcorn role with the API Keys → View permission, so you can open Settings → AI Assistants. The built-in Owner, Admin, and Manager roles have it.
  • A ChatGPT plan and app that let you add connectors. Where that option lives is ChatGPT’s own interface and changes over time; check ChatGPT’s help if you cannot find it.
  • You will need to sign in to Popcorn in the browser during approval.

Copy the connector URL

In Popcorn, go to Settings → AI Assistants. Under Assistant setup, find the ChatGPT card labelled Remote connector and click Copy URL. The value is Popcorn’s MCP endpoint:

Add the connector in ChatGPT

Click Open on the ChatGPT card, or open ChatGPT yourself. Add a new connector and paste the URL as the server address. ChatGPT discovers Popcorn’s sign-in requirements from the URL on its own; there is no token or key to enter.

Approve access in your browser

When ChatGPT connects, Popcorn opens the Authorize Popcorn MCP screen. If you are not signed in to Popcorn, you are sent to sign in first and then brought back.The screen shows the Client (the assistant asking), the Workspace it will reach, when the request Expires, and a Requested access list with one line per area. Check that the workspace is the one you intend, then click Allow access. You are returned to ChatGPT.

Try a request

Ask ChatGPT something read-only first, for example “Give me an overview of my Popcorn workspace” or “Which campaigns ran this month and how did they deliver?”
The approval request is valid for 10 minutes and can be used once. If you see Authorization request expired. (also shown when a link is reopened after it was already approved or denied), start the connection again from ChatGPT.

What the approval screen means

  • Requested access lists each area ChatGPT asked for. Lines such as Read campaign workspace data or Create and manage campaigns describe what that area allows. Anything marked as needing “an explicit confirmation plan” means ChatGPT must show you a preview and get your go-ahead each time before Popcorn carries it out.
  • If ChatGPT does not ask for specific areas, Popcorn grants read-only access across the workspace. ChatGPT can then answer questions but not change anything.
  • Access never exceeds your own Popcorn role. If the request asks for more than your role allows, approval fails with a message starting Your Popcorn role cannot grant MCP scopes. Ask an Owner or Admin to adjust your role, or connect with a role that has the access, then try again.
  • Deny cancels the request. Nothing is connected.

Changing what ChatGPT can do

The access you approved is fixed for that connection. If your role gains new permissions, or you want ChatGPT to move from read-only to making changes, remove and re-add the connector in ChatGPT so it requests access again, then approve the new list. If you want less access, ask ChatGPT to revoke its own connection and reconnect, or have an Owner or Admin adjust your role; see Permissions and safety.
