Popcorn charges a monthly plan that includes a fixed number of credits, plus any additional credits you buy. Credits pay for what the AI agent and your campaigns send. Everything about your plan, balance, and payments lives on the Billing page (the Billing item at the bottom of the sidebar; the page is titled Billing & Usage).

Plans

The Plans section of the Billing page lists the plans you can select in the app. Each plan is billed monthly and adds its credits at the start of every billing period. Your current plan is marked Current and its button reads Current Plan. Other plans show Upgrade or Downgrade. See Top-ups, plan changes and renewal for what happens when you switch. The public pricing page (trypopcorn.ai/pricing) also lists a Plain plan with 2,000 credits per month, a 60,000-credit Caramel tier, annual billing at 20% less than monthly, and an Enterprise plan with custom pricing. Those are not selectable on the Billing page.

The free plan

New workspaces start on the free plan with 100 free credits. On the free plan the Billing page shows only the Plans section: you cannot buy additional credits or set up automatic top-up until you subscribe to a plan.

What a credit is

A credit is the single unit Popcorn deducts for AI replies and campaign messages. Your balance is made of up to three pools, shown when you click Show breakdown under Current Plan: Popcorn always spends free credits first, then plan credits, then additional credits. Campaign refunds go back to the pool they were taken from.

What consumes credits

Messages your team types in the Inbox do not use credits. Messages that fail to send are not charged: campaigns are settled on messages that reached WhatsApp, and automated campaigns only count successful sends. Test conversations with your agent (sandbox or Test Agent) are charged like any other AI reply. On paid plans, the Credit Costs card under Current Plan summarizes these rates.

What happens when credits run out

When your total balance across all three pools reaches zero:
  • The AI stops replying. Each new customer message is handed over to your team instead: the conversation moves to Needs Attention, the workspace’s admin gets a Conversation Handover - Credits Exhausted notification in the app, and the agent’s Slack or email handover notifications fire if they are set up.
  • A red banner appears on every page: Your AI credits have been exhausted. Conversations are now being handled by human agents. Top up your credits to restore AI assistance. Its Top Up Credits button opens the Billing page.
  • Campaigns cannot be launched, because the credits for the audience cannot be reserved.
  • Automated campaigns keep running, but their messages are not sent and appear in the campaign’s results as Not sent — out of credits.
The AI resumes automatically as soon as credits are available again, whether from a purchase, an automatic top-up, or your next plan renewal.
Popcorn emails the person who created the workspace when usage crosses 50%, 80%, and 95% of the credits allocated for the period (subject: Popcorn AI: Your organization has reached 80% usage threshold, for example) and again when credits are exhausted (Popcorn AI: Your organization has exhausted its credits). Each alert is sent once per period. Turn on automatic top-up to avoid the interruption; see Top-ups, plan changes and renewal.

How you are billed

Where you subscribed determines where your plan is managed. Additional credits are always bought by card on the Billing page, whichever way your plan is billed.

Directly, by card (Stripe)

Choosing a plan on the Billing page opens Stripe to complete the subscription. The plan activates, and its credits are added, when Stripe confirms the payment. From then on:
  • Manage Billing and Update Payment Method open Stripe’s billing portal for your account.
  • Invoices appear under Billing History on the Billing page.
  • The subscription renews monthly on the same date. Renews on in Credit Usage shows the next date.

Through the Zid App Market

Subscribe to Popcorn in the Zid App Market and connect your Zid store in Integrations. The plan is applied to your workspace once the store is linked; if you subscribed before connecting, Popcorn applies the subscription as soon as the connection completes. Popcorn’s Cheese plan is offered on Zid monthly or yearly, and plan credits are added for each subscription period Zid reports. When a Zid subscription period ends, Zid gives a five-day grace period before the subscription expires. Your plan and its remaining plan credits stay usable during those five days; see Top-ups, plan changes and renewal for the full lifecycle.

Through the Salla App Store

Subscribe to Popcorn in the Salla App Store with your Salla store connected in Integrations. Subscription starts, renewals, and trials from Salla activate the plan and add its credits for the period Salla reports; cancellations and expiries (including an expired trial) remove the plan immediately.
If your plan is billed through Zid or Salla, change or cancel it in that app store. The Upgrade and Downgrade buttons on the Billing page create a separate card subscription with Stripe, which would bill you twice.

Who can see Billing

The Billing item appears for Owners, Admins, and Managers. Only Owners and Admins can change the plan, buy credits, or open the billing portal; Managers can view the page. See Team and roles.
