Before you start
- To recommend products, an agent needs Product Recommendations switched on in its Configuration tab. See agent capabilities.
- Prices display in the Default Currency set under Settings → General → Products. Two toggles on the same page change what this catalog shows: Enable quantity for products adds a Quantity column and field, and Enable custom options for products adds the Custom Options section to each product. Enable currency visibility for agent tells the agent which currency your prices are in.
- A connected store is required for automatic sync, Resync products, and creating orders in your store. Without one, you can still add products by hand or from a CSV file.
The catalog list
Products opens on the Catalog tab. Search matches the product ID, name, description and link, including variant names and descriptions.
The row menu offers Edit, Product Link (opens the product page in your store) and Delete.
To delete several products, tick their checkboxes and click Delete products. The confirmation warns that the selected products and their variants are permanently deleted; this cannot be undone.
A deleted product, with its variants, disappears from this list and from product counts, is no longer found when the agent searches your products, and is removed from your Meta catalog if one is connected. If the deletion cannot be completed, Popcorn shows Failed to delete products (or Failed to delete product on the product page); delete it again, and Popcorn finishes what the first attempt left undone. The deletion cannot be undone from Popcorn, but it does not delete the product in your store: if the store sends it again, through a product update or Resync products, it returns to the catalog.
Boost, Normal or Hide a product
Each product has one recommendation weight, shown in the In Agent column and in the Recommendation behavior section of the product page.
On the product page you can also fill in Tell the agent why (optional), up to 500 characters, for example “Our bestselling gift for anniversaries.” The agent sees this note next to the product when it comes up in a search and can use it in its reply.
Weights are set per product row. If you want the agent to react to a specific kind of request rather than a single product, use recommendation rules; the Recommendation Rules tab shows a count of boosted and hidden products with a Manage in catalog shortcut.
Edit a product
Click a product to open it. Changes are saved with Save in the bar that appears; Cancel discards them.1
Product Details
Upload up to 10 images; a counter under the images shows how many of the 10 slots are used. Set the Active / Inactive toggle, Product ID, Name, Description, Price, Product Link, Quantity (when enabled), Discount (%) and Final Price. Discount must be between 0 and 100.
2
Recommendation behavior
Choose Boost, Normal or Hide and optionally add the note described above.
3
Custom Options
Shown only when Enable custom options for products is on. Click Add Custom Option to collect additional information from customers during checkout. Each option has a Type (Text, Number, Date, Time, Dropdown, Multiple Select, Image Upload, File Upload), an Option Name (for example “Gifter Name”), and a Required / Optional toggle. Dropdown and Multiple Select options take a list of choices (Add Option / Add Checkbox). All types except uploads accept an Extra Price, which is added to the order total when the option is selected. The chosen values appear on the order under Custom Options.
4
Product Variants
Click Add Variant and either Choose Existing (turn another catalog product into a variant of this one) or Create New. Use Edit or Delete on a variant row. Added and removed variants are applied when you click Save; a removed variant is also removed from your Meta catalog. If a variant cannot be removed, the save fails with Failed to update product; variants that were already removed stay removed, so you can simply save again.
Add products yourself
Use this when you have no connected store or want to sell something that is not in it.1
Add one product
Click Add Product. Fill in ID, Name, Price, Description and Link (and Quantity when enabled); Discount % and Final Price are marked Optional, and the discount must be between 0 and 100. Upload up to 10 images. To make the new product a variant of an existing one, search for the parent under Default Variant. Click Save.
2
Import a CSV
Click Import, then Import from CSV. Upload the file, match your columns to Popcorn’s fields, review any validation errors, then import. Imported products are synced to your connected catalogs and indexed for the agent. Imports of more than 10 products continue in the background; you can close the tab.
Resync products from your store
If the catalog looks stale after changes in Shopify, Salla or Zid, go to Integrations. The connected store’s card shows the product count and when it was last synced (“never synced” or “last resync failed” if that is the case). Click Resync products: Popcorn pulls your latest products from the store and then pushes them on to your Meta catalog, so you do not have to touch either platform. You see Resync started with “Pulling your latest products from your store. This usually takes a few minutes.” and the card shows Resyncing products… until it finishes.- A resync is already running: wait for the current one to finish.
- Products were just resynced. You can resync again in N min.: a resync can be started once every 15 minutes.
- Connect your store before resyncing products: there is no connected store.
- The button is only shown to team members whose role can manage products. See team and roles.
How customers search by image
When a customer sends a product photo on WhatsApp, the agent searches the catalog by image as well as by text. If the match is uncertain, it shows the closest products and asks the customer to confirm or share the product link; if nothing matches, it asks for the product link or exact name. If the image cannot be analysed at all, the agent searches using any product name or model number the customer typed and says the results are based on that description, or asks for a clearer photo, a product link or the exact product name.Related
