Products in WhatsApp links the products in Popcorn to a Meta commerce catalog. Once connected, the products your AI agent recommends, and the products your team sends from the Inbox, arrive as WhatsApp product cards that customers can open and add to a cart, instead of plain image messages. Use it when you have a connected store with products and at least one WhatsApp number.

Before you start

  • At least one WhatsApp number connected under Channels → WhatsApp (see Connect WhatsApp). The Products in WhatsApp card only appears once a number is connected.
  • Products in Popcorn, synced from your store (see Connect your store).
  • A Meta catalog of the commerce type in the Meta business that owns your WhatsApp number. Popcorn cannot create one for you; if you have none, you create it in Meta Commerce Manager during setup.
  • One catalog is shared by every number in the same WhatsApp Business Account.

Connect the catalog

You can start in two places: while connecting a number, or later from the Account tab.

While connecting a number

When you click Login with Facebook and your workspace already has products, Popcorn asks Bring your products to WhatsApp? and shows how many products are ready.

From the Account tab

1

Open the card

Go to Channels → WhatsApp → Account. Under Settings, find Products in WhatsApp (“Sync your Popcorn products so customers can browse them and receive product cards in WhatsApp.”) and click Set up products. There is no second Facebook login: Popcorn reuses the sign-in from your WhatsApp connection.
2

Click again if asked

If Popcorn shows Facebook is ready. Click Connect again to continue., click the button once more.
3

Choose a catalog

In Choose where to sync your products, pick one under Use an existing catalog and click Connect products. Each option shows the catalog name and Catalog ending in its last digits. To make a new one, choose Create a new catalog, click Create catalog in Meta, create it in the tab that opens, then click I created it — check again.
4

Let the first sync run

Popcorn confirms: Product sync started — your products are being pushed to the Meta catalog in the background. Check the catalog health card for progress. The sync runs on Popcorn’s servers, so you can close the tab. The card button changes to Connected.
If Meta finds no catalog in your business, the dialog is titled Create a home for your products. Create one in Meta and return; you will not need to sign in again. Popcorn attaches the catalog to each connected WhatsApp Business Account and asks Meta to confirm the link. If the link cannot be confirmed you see WhatsApp is connected. Products still need setup. with the reason, and the card shows Action required with a Continue setup button until you finish. A common cause is a catalog already linked to a different WhatsApp Business Account: disconnect it there or choose another catalog, then click Try again. Finish for now keeps the number working without product cards.

What syncs to Meta

For every product in Popcorn the catalog receives the name, description, price and currency, the sale price when a discount is set, the product link, the images, and availability:
  • Availability follows stock: a product with stock is sent as in stock, a product with none as out of stock.
  • Inactive products are sent as archived, so customers do not see them.
  • Products without an image get no placeholder. Meta rejects them, and they stay in the health card until you add a photo.
Syncs run after the catalog is connected, whenever products are added, changed or removed by a sync from your store (including Resync products under Integrations; changes are pushed in batches about a minute apart), whenever you delete a product or a variant in Products (it is removed from the catalog), and every night, when Popcorn compares its products with the Meta catalog and repairs any differences.

Read the catalog health card

Once connected, Meta catalog health appears under Settings. It counts active products only. Click Refresh (the circular-arrow icon) to reload the numbers. If the card shows Could not load catalog health., click Retry.

Product Sharing and Cart Checkout

These two toggles appear under Settings once a catalog is connected. Change them, then click Save changes; Popcorn confirms with Settings Updated.

Product Sharing

“Enable products sharing through WhatsApp cards.” With it on, products go out as catalog cards, whether the agent recommends them or a teammate sends them from the Inbox:
  • One product becomes a single product card.
  • Several products become one product list message, titled Products and listing the product names. WhatsApp allows 30 items per message; larger selections are split into consecutive messages, never dropped.
  • Products that are not live in the catalog (rejected, never synced, or still syncing) are sent as image cards instead, with the name, description, price and link. The Inbox shows how many items reached the customer, for example 3 of 4 delivered to the customer.
With it off, or while the catalog connection has expired, every product is sent as an image card.

Cart Checkout

“Enable ordering directly from WhatsApp cart.” When you save, Popcorn turns the WhatsApp cart on (or off) for every connected number. With it on, customers can add products from your cards to their WhatsApp cart and send the cart to you; it arrives in the conversation, and the agent continues with the order from there (see Orders).

If cards still do not appear

Click Connected on the Products in WhatsApp card. The Connect Meta Catalog dialog shows a short video and the manual steps: open the WhatsApp phone numbers page in Meta Business Manager, select your WhatsApp Business Account, open Catalogue, click Connect a catalogue and link your Popcorn catalog.
